The Everest was inaugurated in 2017, instantly becoming one of the most valuable races in the world. The concept was revolutionary - twelve slot holders purchase the right to nominate a horse, with slots initially sold for $600,000 each and now trading hands for much more.

The first running was won by Redzel, who returned to win again in 2018, establishing himself as the race's first dual champion. The race has attracted international attention, with Japanese and Hong Kong sprinters targeting the lucrative prize.

Yes Yes Yes created history in 2019 when jockey Glen Boss produced a masterful ride to win by nearly two lengths, cementing the race's status as a world-class sprint. The event has grown to become a major carnival day in Sydney, rivaling the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival.

The Everest's unique slot system means the final field isn't confirmed until slot holders announce their selections, usually in the weeks leading up to the race. This creates excitement but also betting challenges.
